On their own, shit’s happening is a collection of palm-sized geometric forms made from recycled velvet and hand-dyed with turmeric. Their soft surfaces and intimate scale make them feel familiar, while their imperfect geometry resists fixed interpretation. Arranged together, they oscillate between order and improvisation, abstraction and objecthood, encouraging close attention to the relationships between the forms rather than any single object.
As they are exposed to light, the turmeric dye gradually fades, allowing the sculptures to become quiet records of time. Their exhibition itself becomes part of the work, with change happening slowly enough to be almost imperceptible until it has already occurred.
